Where is Koha Bees located?
- Koha Bees currently operates in Karaka , South Auckland.
- Koha Bees Karaka will service sites located up to a maximum of 30 km from Linwood Rd, Karaka.
- We will be expanding to service more locations in the near future and would like to hear from you if this concept interests you.
What are you required to provide?
- Your time to manage our beehives. Approximately 1 hour a week depending on the time of the year and your passion for beekeeping.
- A site to locate 4 or more beehives. The site needs to be reasonably level, sheltered and accessible by a light truck or ute.
- You need to provide your own protective clothing, gloves, hive tool and smoker.
- A small space in a garage or shed to store hive hardware when not in use.
- A 20 litre food grade container to store your share of the surplus honey after harvest.
- A space in a freezer to temporarily hold frames before relocating into your garage or shed for storage.
- Complete a recognised beekeeping course or demonstrate competency in managing bee hives.
What will Koha Bees provide?
- We deliver beehives and all the necessary hive hardware for the production of honey to your site.
- We supply and construct a timber hive stand including weed-mat ground cover.
- Technical support and training.
- Apiary registration for each site and all statuatory requirements taken care of.
- Convenient record keeping system to ensure accurate hive records are kept.
- Mobile honey extraction unit that will come to your site and extract your honey.
